BIOswimmer, Marine Defender

In light of the recent discoveries, it seems that robotic fish are all the craze now.

The Department of Homeland Security has recently been trying to strengthen security from the water, since the US receives a lot of cargo every day. Because it’s hard to inspect all cargo, it was better to have a robot do it all.

BIOswimmer is an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) which can inspect the insides of oil tankers and the like to make sure that could potentially have security issues. The best part of this is that BIOswimmer is modeled after the tuna, one of the most efficient swimmers ever. It shows how nature’s designs are often just as useful in our own machinations.

Currently, the BIOswimmer is still being tested, but with its arsenal of sensors and ability to be specialized for any specific mission, the versatility and ability are undeniable. Soon, the BIOswimmer might be defending our ports!

Official videos of the newest version of the BIOswimmer have not been published yet, so here’s a video of one of its earlier versions. If any videos come, I’ll be sure to post them!
