Mankind has dreamed of flight like the birds, with the flapping of wings high in the sky. From Da Vinci’s flying machines to the Wright Brothers’ attempted gliders, it has always been wished to fly in the skies like a bird.
And here we are, many years later, with an effective flying seagull! Sure, it isn’t what most people imagined it to be, but having an automated flying machine is still a huge step forward in navigating the skies. After extensive research in bird flight, FESTO created its “SmartBird,” that simulates regular seagull flight, with head, tail, and wing movements that allow it to fly in the air for long distances at a time.
